Keyboarding should begin in 4th grade.

I believed that our students should begin learning keyboarding in the 4th grade, so that they are proficient and efficient typists by the end of 8th grade. Our students currently do not have an opportunity for formal, consistent keyboarding education until the 9th grade. By this point, they have been using computers in one capacity or another for their entire school-aged lives and most likely have assumed poor keyboarding skills that are difficult to unlearn.
